Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room and away drom drafts. Do not burn a candle too close to a wall. Do place candle on a protected, heat resistant, level surface. Free standing candles such as pillars should always be placed on a safe candle holder. Keep children and pets away from a burning candle. A safe way to extinguish a candle is to use a candle snuffer because it helps prevent hot wax from spattering. Discontinue burning when 1/2 inch of wax remains in the bottom of the candle. Do not extinquish candles with water. Water can cause the hot wax to spatter and can cause glass containers to break. Never use a candle as light when you go into a closet to look for things or when fueling equipment such as a lantern or kerosene heater.
